Vacancy for Clinical Officer

Koinonia Community is seeking to fill the position of a Clinical Officer as detailed below;


Reporting line: Project manager



  • Perform the duties of a team leader within the project
  • Performs technical skills related to resuscitation e.g.  Basic life support
  • Reviews patients history and performs clinical examinations
  • Directly involved in making diagnosis, writing prescriptions and other treatment activities
  • Confirms questionable and notifiable diseases and takes appropriate action
  • Acts according to the policies and philosophy of the dispensary, as directed by health and Koinonia Policies.
  • Involved in specific drug therapies e.g. cytotoxic drugs etc
  • Performs minor and intermediate surgical procedures
  • Should be involved in teaching where this applies
  • Facilitates patients referral to other well equipped hospitals for further management
  • Involved in monitoring of patients follow-ups
  • Handles referrals from subordinate Health Facilities
  • Ensures patients flow, clinic organization and rectification of bottle necks
  • Supervise in immunization programs and mass immunization campaigns
  • Responsible for various types of community  services of promotive, and  preventive nature including:  Maternal care, Nutritional care, Child health  services, Family planning services, School health services
    • Plans and accompanies mobile health teams and provides specific diagnostic and curative tacks including health related lectures
    • Involved in training of  community extension workers e.g.TBAs,CBDs CHWs and monitoring their activities in effort to improve community health
    • Maintenance of good patients, public and staff relationship.
    • Writing and submitting six monthly and annual reports
    • Prepare regular CME presentations
  • Ensuring strategic direction of project operations, day to day management and delivery of the Project’s components.
  • Efficient support to tasks related to advocacy, planning, networking and programming, resources mobilization, monitoring and evaluation, and representation.
  • Financial resources management.
  • Human Resources Management and efficient procurement and logistical services.
    • Facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing
    • Any other duty that may be delegated to you from time to time.


Minimum Requirements and experience

  • Diploma in Clinical medicine or related field.
  • Current registration and license to practice with the Clinical Officer’s Council.
  • Minimum of three years clinical practice experience.
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously or in a team with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent work ethic, proactive, punctual, reliable and flexibility to work long hours when required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and general computer & technology literacy. Familiarity with computer based health information system preferred.
  • Due to the nature of the work, fluency in Swahili will be a strong advantage.


 Terms of Employment:

  • I year Renewable Contract
  • Probation period for the first 3 Months
