On June 21st, 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting the 2nd Edition of the Koinonia Community Open Day, an event that proved to be a resounding success. With our doors wide open, we welcomed the outside world to come, see, and be part of our transformative community work. Attendees had the opportunity to explore our various projects and community initiatives, gaining firsthand insight into our efforts to create a positive impact.
This year’s theme, “Building Inclusive and Sustainable Communities” was at the heart of all our activities. We are committed to fostering inclusivity and sustainability in everything we do and the event was a perfect embodiment of these values. Through engaging discussions and interactive sessions, we highlighted the importance of these principles and how they guide our work.
The event provided a platform for stakeholders to interact, share ideas and explore potential partnerships. These relationships are crucial as they will enable us to establish more meaningful collaborations in the future.
The day was filled with memorable moments, but the highlight was undoubtedly the outstanding performances by our very own Domus Mariae Secondary School and the Kivuli acrobats. Domus Mariae captivated the audience with their National Music Festivals winning Borana Traditional Dance, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and talent within our communities. The Kivuli acrobats amazed everyone with their incredible skills and athleticism, adding a vibrant and entertaining touch to the event.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the attendees of this year’s event. Your presence and active participation will go a long way in building inclusive and sustainable communities that we envision.
