The much anticipated Koinonia Community Fundraising Dinner kicked off on a high note after weeks and months of planning.
Koinonia Community had scheduled to have a dinner aimed at raising funds towards the education of vulnerable children. Change begins with a single step and ensuring that the less fortunate members of our community get an education. The Gala Dinner was themed “Take Me to School”. The theme was informed by the need to provide education, which is the most viable mechanism to better the lives of vulnerable children and their families.
Over the years, the number of children in the streets, and those in vulnerable situations have always been on the rise. Since our inception, Koinonia Community has been known to be at the forefront in championing for better lives for these children, and rescuing vulnerable children and those living in the streets and thereafter following it up with the rehabilitation process and later on reintegrating them back to their families.
The Gala Dinner was held at Ngong Hills Hotel on Friday 9th November 2018 where different, attended by many individuals, in addition to the number of organizations who supported this worthy cause. Guests present were treated to sumptuous three -course dinner accompanied by great music and different activities all aimed at making the event lively. The highlight of the night was when one of the beneficiaries, Miss Cynthia Njeri, got to share her story of how she has been able to benefit from Koinonia Community. She is currently working as a social worker and paying forward the kindness that was shown to her in her earlier years. She challenged the guests to do more to help vulnerable children in our society today. This could be as simple as committing to buy school stationery for a child in one of the Koinonia centres for a whole school year.
We are glad to report that this event raised over KSh 300, 000 which will be used towards supporting the children under our care in school. Want to join in and offer your support?
